Many of the brands we've featured for Northern Folk started because somebody spent time making the things they love to make. We all get the urge to make stuff. Some of the crazy individuals amongst us decide to turn our passion for creating into a full time job while many other (probably more sane) people just enjoy making things in their spare time.
Even as a full-time maker I find myself looking for new projects and techniques to explore. The possibilities are endless and inspiration is everywhere... in fact sometimes the thought of starting a new DIY project can be a little daunting.
MaeKit is the answer to all of our DIY-obsessed-but-super-overwhelmed-by-Pinterest prayers - everything you need to complete a project all in one beautifully packaged kit? Yes, please.
If you've ever spent a Saturday afternoon wishing you had a fun project to work on but had no idea where to get started - MaeKit is for you! The designer of these amazingly beautiful kits has an awesome variety of projects available and has gathered everything you need to develop the skills to make some pretty cool stuff!
Who are you (or your brand) & what do you do?
MaeKit is a new venture started by a Fargo teacher and designer who had a desire to empower people to make things and learn new skills for making. Kits are assembled using vintage supplies and tools rescued from craft purgatory, with hand illustrated instructions, and everything you need to complete a project.
What does American Made mean to you (or your brand)?
To MaeKit, American Made means locally sourced. Everything needed for the assembly and packaging of each MaeKit can be gathered within walking distance of headquarters. It may take longer to sift through antique store bins of old tools to find just the right ones, and it may be more time consuming to hand print each package, but the end result is a product that rings true with the ethos of Making.
Who do you make your products for?
MaeKit is for adults, with some kits that are kid friendly and great for parties and group making.
Where can folks find your products?
Currently, only at Northern Folk! Soon, at Unglued Market on Broadway in Fargo, and in an online store.
