Behind the Scenes: AENDEE's Mismatched Wedding Bow Ties
February 11, 2015
Bow ties have been all the rage this year for making any man look dapper on their big day. I've had the pleasure of working with many soon-to-be-married couples this season making sure that the groom and groomsmen are decked out in the perfect upcycled accessories.
Each experience of curating a custom collection of fabrics has been a blast but one of my most recent weddings was a favorite ( I am honestly still drooling over wedding photos)!
Liz & Eller sent me a message several months before their wedding letting me know exactly what they were looking for when it came to outfitting their bridal party. The groom had even whipped up this impressive mood board which was a great starting place for me to begin pulling fabrics.
As with all AENDEE wedding collections, the starting point with Liz & Eller was collecting their wedding colors & aesthetic / theme. I always ask couples who are interested in custom wedding neckties or bow ties what mood they are attempting to achieve with their wedding and which colors they plan to use to execute that mood. Eller's graphic was almost like a road map for finding them just what they were looking for, a combination of classy and dapper with a touch of vintage. Both the guys and gals would be decked out in soft, warm hues and Eller was looking for a collection of bow ties to set his guy's outfits off.
After meeting with the couple and collecting some swatches of the bridesmaid dresses I was able to get a real feel for the personality of the bride and groom. They were young, hip, in love, and stylish in the most classic way- and I wanted to communicate that style in their collection.
From the groom's mood board and the bride's fabric swatches I was able to find a great selection of shirts to transform into bow ties for them. When it came to finding a way for the groom to stand out I knew that the Hawaiian button down I had found was the perfect fit for his personality.
It was an amazing experience working with Liz & Eller and I am so happy with the way their collection turned out! Their wedding also happened to be photographed by one of my favorite local photographers at Fate & Love Photography so I've been able to enjoy the collection through beautiful photographs even after the fact!
